This sundial was discovered in the eastern gate of Qumran facing Jordan. The researcher Dr. Steve Pfann asked me to make a replica of it so we could take an exact copy down to Qumran on the day of the winter solstice to make some measure ments as to eexactly where the sun rose in the south due to the date.
